Are you aware of what the pressure in your pipes is? For the large majority of homeowners, this is probably not something that you know, or even worry about, but your water pressure could pose a problem. If the pressure in your pipes is too high, it puts a strain on every part of your plumbing system. If it is too low on the other hand, you might be frustrated with the weak flow in your shower and sinks.

The water pressure in your pipes should be around 50 pounds per square inch. There are devices that you can use to test the pressure, and if it is too high or too low, there might already be something in your home that will help adjust it called a pressure regulator. If you have one of those, a slight adjustment might be all that is needed to get the correct pressure. If the regulator is failing, on the other hand, you might need the help of a plumber to install a new one.
