Have you ever seen this happen? You’re in the shower, getting freshened up for your day, when out of the blue, your toilet starts bubblingas if there is something moving under the surface! While this might seem like a freak event, there is a natural explanation for it, and if it happens frequently, you should definitely make sure that you do something about it.

The reason is that there is sewer gas contained inside the pipes of your home. When water runs down the pipes, the gas is displaced and tries to find a way to get out. This should happen through your vent pipe, but if it is blocked for some reason, your toilet is a very likely backup vent. This means that if you see it happening frequently, you should have your vent pipe looked at.

It could be that a bird or rodent somehow got into the pipe and built a nest, thus blocking the pipe off.
