Have you ever been exposed to sewage water? Hopefully not. There are many different diseases that you can get from it. Typhoid fever, Dysentery and Hepatitis A just to mention a few. These diseases also come with some very serious and debilitating side effects. Looking at a list of them, you can definitely see why it would be in your best interest to stay away from sewage at all costs. But you might wonder how that could happen to you, and unfortunately there are many different events that could lead to sewage ending up where it shouldn’t be.
The most common is when you have a toilet overflowing. It could happen due to a clog somewhere in your sewer system, backing sewage up into your toilet. Slightly more rare is when your septic tank fails for some reason and starts backing up. It is even possible that heavy rains could make a municipal sewer system back up, but at that point there is probably a major disaster in the area where you live.
