A house that is full of live plants certainly has a lot of character, and it is good for the air quality indoors. There are many reasons why indoor air quality could be low. For example,  there are countless items in your home that may release chemicals into the air, but plants will remove many of these. Some studies suggest that plants can alleviate respiratory problems, headaches and asthma.

Even though there are some possible downsides with having a lot of plants in your home, these can easily be avoided if the plants are properly cared for.

Don’t overwater your plants, and make sure that there are no leaks from the pots since this could cause stains and water damage to your home.

To get the most benefit quickly, large and fast-growing plants are the best. Don’t use chemical fertilizer indoors, since this can release harmful chemicals into the air. It might be necessary to have a dehumidifier if your plants are releasing a lot of moisture into the air, since this could promote mold-growth.
