Bringing home a new puppy is so exciting! But it also means you’re going to have to do some preparations in your home. Puppy-proofing is a real thing.
Puppies are very much like human babies in that they love putting everything into their mouths. Make sure to not have small objects that could be choking hazards laying around within their reach. Also, tie up any cords that may be hanging from blinds or curtains. Make sure they are not able to chew on power cords. Store chemicals out of their reach, or use baby locks on the cabinets. These may also come in handy to keep cabinets secure that contain food that you don’t want them getting into.
To avoid frustration on your part and your puppy’s, make sure that items that you care about are not within their reach. This may include nice shoes or purses or other things that they will love to dig their little teeth into. Also, have a good stain and odor remover chemical ready for when they might have an accident inside the house on your carpet.
